We’ve finally struck marina gold. It’s the marina at Emerald Cove I believe – about 40 minutes from George Town that serves the Sandals resort here in Great Exuma island. Our first two nights we stayed on the main docks at $80/night, and now we’re getting an even better deal, on the docks a little farther out for only $20/night – though without the water and power. But here is what we get for that (about the same price as other marinas we’ve stayed at):
Free laundry!
Free DVD rentals
Free coffee
Wifi
Nice showers
playground
Guest lounge – this includes a big screen tv, pool table, computer and happy hours with rum punch
The first day we were here I asked about a store and the girl in the office said there was a liquor store up the road and offered to drive me up there in the golf cart. I guess the resort service mentality is extended to the marina guests. They also have a golf course and spa here. Lawson is playing golf today although it’s raining. The only drawback here is the wifi is pretty slow. And there are no near food stores – Lawson ended up splitting the cost of a car rental with the guy in the boat next to us and getting groceries in George Town. April is coming in Monday so I think we’re just going to hang out here until then, then go into George Town and anchor up. They’re even having a Super Bowl party here tomorrow night so we’ll get to watch. We’ve met several people – two families with kids near T’s age – and everyone is super nice. We look forward to meeting more folks tonight at happy hour and at the Super Bowl party. The beach here is beautiful – well that goes without saying. We spent some time there yesterday but today and tomorrow it’s supposed to be stormy.
I’m so excited I was up at 6:30 am (on a Sunday!) even though my flight to Orlando isn’t until 3pm. At this rate the house will be spotless as find things to do until then.
