Lawson got the mobile hotspot thang working so I can blog, however I can’t get into my email from it so I won’t be able to read or respond to any emails until I have full-blown wifi again – probably next week. I don’t know why this is the case – something wonky with my bluehost mail server, go figure!
\nSo enough about the tech crapola – am sitting here surrounded by turquoise blue water in the sunshine and a fresh sea breeze. We are anchored up in a cove in Staniel Cay. Staniel Cay is just as breathtaking as Warderick Wells with a town attached. We stayed at the yacht club marina the first night which didn’t even compare to where we are now on the anchor in this cove. The marina had some kind of rip-off pay-as-you-go wifi and no showers. The one thing it did have was a good restaurant and bar. But after we walked into town and bought $130 of groceries, the last thing I wanted to do was buy dinner. The bar would have been fun, but not with a seven-year-old. We instead took a dip in the pool – too cold for me – but T loved it. I told Lawson he deserved a drink at the bar. Every once in a while a hard-working captain deserves a $12 pi\u00f1a colada. He had tough work that day sailing us from Warderick Wells – the Exuma Sound was choppy with winds blowing 15 knots and three rough tidal races we had to cross.
\nThe next morning we left to anchor up here and the dockhands had to help us back out – we were next to a huge yacht – maybe like 140 feet. When we got to this cove, that yacht and several other boats that we’re at the marina also came out here to enjoy the anchorage experience.
\nThe beach right across from us has the famous Staniel Cay pigs – several dinghies and small motor boats go over there several times a day to feed them. Pigs a tourist attraction – who would of thought?
\nWell I guess we are heading over there shortly on the dinghy. There are kids over there so T will enjoy it. We’ll be leaving this pretty spot tomorrow for a mooring in Farmers Cay – guess a big blow is happening Monday. Maybe before we go we will also get some more snorkeling in – there are reefs galore here too. But the water is still a little cold for me… I’m hoping by George Town the water will be warmer. We are also SO EXCITED to welcome April Mitchell in George Town on Feb. 2nd. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Our Exuma explorations continue here in Staniel Cay.
