April Mitchell, Lawson’s sister, arrived into Exuma international airport last night and has joined our motley crew. I”m sure between T’s whining and our expert docking skills this morning at the fuel dock she is wondering what in the hell she has gotten herself into. Ah well, at least she got a hot shower at the lux marina last night. Today we left our little prize of a marina and have just anchored up in an anchorage in George Town. It’s beautiful here and I’m hoping the breeze keeps the no-see-ums away – last night was the first still night at the lux marina and I got eaten alive. Probably upwards of fifty bites – and I had bug spray on! What makes this more annoying is that Lawson never gets bitten! I guess I must have been an exterminator in a past life or something.<\/p>\n
So here we are, on the hook. April is napping, T is watching Avatar, Lawson is recovering after getting the dinghy in the water – though we are getting that down! He makes a fail safe pulley that I man but thankfully it hasn’t come to that yet. Davits! If you’re buying a sailboat, get one with a davits so you don’t have to mess with the heavy outboard.<\/p>\n
So we are all set to dinghy into G Town but will probably just wait until tomorrow. Biggest disappointment today: perfect sailing speed for trolling but didn’t catch a fish. We are JONSIN’ for some fish! Aaaaagh! Who would of thunk – here in fishing cap of the world and we aren’t eating seafood! (Well eating it out, but not on the boat.) Last night when we were leaving the lux marina happy hour a guy was cleaning his tuna he caught – just to make us that much more envious.<\/p>\n
I’m beginning to wonder, as I first did if we were going to ever actually cross, if we are ever going to catch a fish or dive for some lobsters. I hope, like the crossing, that it soon comes to pass. April mentioned we should have taken one of the extra lines sitting in our bucket (that the fish go in) out – that it was bad luck because essentially we weren’t being positive enough about the probability of catching a fish because we didn’t have a place for it. Damn! We will fix that tomorrow and whatever other mojo magic we have to conduct to get a damn fish on this boat, under the knife, on the grill, sprayed with lime and slapped onto a warm tortilla with slaw and salsa. Lawson wants to do the fish teriyaki style…then there is the option of sashimi for a tuna perhaps…ok must stop this torture.<\/p>\n
