I wish I had taken a picture of the huge iguana lounging on the dock across from us yesterday. It was probably six feet long. Then there are the smaller bright green ones. We’ve seen so many, they’ve become like squirrels. ( Probably the reason I didn’t take the pic; but in retrospect, iguanas becoming as common as squirrels is not something I would have though of as normal two weeks ago.)<\/p>\n
So last night I did not sleep well: more of the post traumatic waitress dreams but this time I was always short of something – cup of coffee ordered by demanding guest but can’t find a coffee cup anywhere. Obviously this is in response to being totally boat-bound now – turned in the van yesterday – and we no longer can just go get what we need. Today we got a few last forgotten items on foot. It was a productive walk up to the strip mall for lunch for T and free wifi at McD’s, lunch at the Thai restaurant for Lawson and \u00a0I (who couldn’t bear fast food), and mattress pads \u00a0at big lots and then Lawson trooped on to west marine for boat stuff and T and I hit the park on the way back. He had a good time playng w the other kids while I spent a half-hour on phone w Humana \u00a0to try and pay for our health insurance – \u00a0to no avail.<\/p>\n
Anyway – back to iguanas and ice. Another reason I didn’t sleep well last night was because one of those “squirrels” I mentioned decided to come aboard and its claws on the deck (over our heads) made a crazy sound – I had no idea what it was. After we made sure all hatches were closed \u00a0I was able to try and sleep… Kinda.<\/p>\n
So after another day of working and sweating to the bone, unfortunately Lawson didn’t get a g n t because we didn’t have any ice. He contemplated taking a cab to get ice but in the end he was too tired. \u00a0We all \u00a0had our first warm shower aboard today ( repair done this morning) and we all feel like new souls. Casting off tomorrow, whatever that crazy train will end up being- keep your fingers crossed, the prayers coming and the good juju sent our way!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
