Another night in Ft. Lauderdale

Decided to stay another night here to deal with the dinghy issue. Mission accomplished. Lawson took a cab to West Marine and got a new one and sold the big one on Craig’s List. Unfortunately the outboard is having issues. Mechanic coming this morning. They don’t call it a shakedown cruise for nothing!

I was glad to have another day to relax. Laundry, showers, nap, Tristan’s schoolwork. Then we headed to this pirate-themed restaurant/bar around the corner so Lawson could watch some football. We ended up eating dinner there though we probably shouldn’t have spent the money. But the food was amazing. 0verpriced still but we’re used to that from Vegas. Thank you chef for assuring us we were not in a total tourist trap. (The cheesy pirate statues around said otherwise!)

So today it’s get the outboard fixed, pump out and then make our way down to Biscayne Bay. We’ll probably anchor up tonight or do one of the mooring fields there. Lawson wants to sail the boat a bit before we cross. I definitely need some practice on everything. Hopefully we’ll find some other boats crossing in the next week and can do it together. Today, too, will be our first time in the Atlantic, which can be much different than the Gulf – what we are used to sailing on. That and Tampa Bay. So we’ll see. I’ve never been sea sick and don’t ever want to be! Hopefully sailing conditions will be good today. After all the repairs, Lawson is chomping at the bit.
