Feeling Anthony Bourdain-ish

Just had a slightly scary breakfast – grits with some sort of “sausage”. T fared better with delicious pound cake. It was the breakfast hot spot – all the Bahamians on their way to work were stopping to get breakfast to go. Plus lots of school kids dressed in their uniforms. They serve it all to go in small white styrofoam containers. We took ours across the street to a picnic table at a park overlooking the water. Another tourist, a man, came over and talked with us. Told us he had a son, Max, that was being homeschooled. Was looking to see if Tristan wanted to come play with him. But we told him that we are leaving today. Because, we are, in fact. A blow is coming in on Saturday and we need to get to our next spot before it hits. So we’re leaving about 1pm today and doing the long haul to Nassau. About 18 hours. Ugh. But I think the general plan is to keep heading south as quickly as possible, so we’re just gonna do it. Otherwise we’d be here for another four nights, and I think we’ve seen pretty much all there is to see here.

The reason we “braved” breakfast out this morning is because we had to go pick up our laundry Yesterday we had dropped it off. The walk down the Alice Town main drag is a little scary – narrow road and cars and golf carts and bikes all going through with really no sidewalks. I could just see it – after all the stress of keeping us all safe on the water, tristan gets taken out by a golf cart. But we made it there and back yesterday and today. It felt good to walk around and stretch our legs.

Yesterday we finally made it over to the beach after chores and schoolwork. The beach was breathtaking. The water was a dozen different colors of blue. The surf was intense though – kind of scary to swim in. We mainly built a sand castle then went up to CJ’s overlooking the beach for lunch. Sitting on their picnic table outside and eating we felt a little like Anthony Bourdain again. I had the crack lobster which was amazing. Lawson had the conch sandwich with everything – a local inside eating at the counter had recommended it. Tristan was happy as a clam with a huge hot dog.

I was trying to figure it all out today actually. How to get myself to Nassau. I amy need to try for early February instead, I wonder where I should fly to in that case??
Can you really not tell I’ve been reading the blog? I’ve left comments.
    Hope to see you soon.
