Today’s surprises

April and I both woke up today to tons of bites. Bummer. I unearthed the first aid bag and we found some good ointment to keep us from scratching ourselves silly. But bummer!

We set off in the dinghy this morning and headed to the Chat N Chill – the local watering hole. It wasn’t open yet but there were people finishing up their yoga class, a table of people painting, volleyball players and us newbies, getting the lay of the land and swinging T in the various hammocks. Lawson got scoop on what beach to dinghy to so we headed over to Sand Dollar Beach. At first we weren’t sure we had found it – our directions were something green hanging on a pole. Lo and behold there was some green fish net hanging on a tree on one of the many secluded beaches. We dragged the dinghy ashore and waded in the crystal-clear water. The green netting was marking the trail, which we eventually all took. The trail was basically sand which you could do barefoot. At a certain point in on the trail you could go right or left and we all went right. This led us up to the top of the hill and a breathtaking view of the water, cliffs, reefs and beaches below as well as surrounding islands. WOW.

The trail to the left led down to the beach which was beautiful and had glorious surf and we hope to return there tomorrow and bring a picnic.

We headed back to the Chat and ordered conch salad and conch burgers. Inside the bar area I went to pull out a chair at a table to discover two happy sleeping cats on each chair.

April went to the outdoor conch salad stand and chat up with the hot young conch stand Bahamian as well as fed the local sting rays that greet visitors for handouts like pigeons in a park.

Tonight, seemed dark when we came up on deck to have some red wine then realized the full moon was not yet up. Then up iit rose, looking so beautiful against the clouds and hills. Plus the twinkling of a 100+ mast lights across the water.

Ok, guess that’s it for surprises for today, other than the constant surprise that we have such a dear sweet funny sis Aprll. We are enjoying her company immensely.
