Cold in The Bahamas?

Yes. One of the coldest winters in years. I guess that is the same thing going on in the U.S. as Lawson talked to his folks today and they said it was 29 degrees in St. Pete, FL. Say waaaaa? I haven’t talked to my family yet so I don’t know how cold it is in Missouri but I can only imagine. The Internet has been down the last three days in Eleuthera so we haven’t had access to what’s up. It really blows. It’s cold. We’re stuck here until Monday because another blow is coming in tonight and as of yet, we have no Internet.

Yesterday though it was chilly and overcast we took a “nature walk” on the beach and had Tristan take pictures of different things we found. There were car tracks in the sand along the beach until it met a large pool where the grass flats on the right met the beach on the left. We spent part of the time walking along the path where we saw all the different kinds of shrubs – palmettos, sea grapes and pretty succulents. The rest of the time we clambered around the limestone that dropped off to the beach. Lots of pools formed within the limestone where we found limpets, sea urchins and other creatures.

By now we have planned our trip home. Leave Monday and travel for three to four consecutive days of anchorages, weather permitting: Highbourne Cay, West Bay, Chub Cay, Miami. That is the tentative plan anyway. We haven’t mapped out our return to St. Pete from Miami but it will probably go something like: The Keys, Naples, St. Pete. So we could be “home” by the first week of March.

“Home” until we find jobs will continue to be on Curlew at a marina in downtown St. Pete. Signing off now with a few shots from our recent explorations…
