Just had amazing beignets at Cafe Du Monde in the French quarter.
Now we’re on I-10 heading into Florida, the final leg of our road trip. The south has welcomed us back with plenty of “y’all’s” and the hospitality of The Jones family in Memphis. It was great seeing my friend Jodi from so many years ago – in fact we had met at the age of her eldest daughter now. Funny, we don’t feel any different even though we are both 30 years older and moms ourselves. So after Memphis’ finest BBQ, donuts and company we rolled out of Memphis and headed to New Orleans. Soon the gray skies turned blue and the stark brown trees filled with green again, along with that wonderful southern sunshine.
Today’s travels will bring us to a beach somewhere along the panhandle, where we’ll hopefully have a chance to get our feet into the glorious sand. But for now, it’s more of time in the car…Tristan is playing Schoolhouse Rocks in the back seat, which are going to be stuck in my head all day….conjunction junction what’s your function….
