The shakedown continues

We left half moon bay early this morning to make a run for the Davis Harbour Marina on Eleuthera. The anchorage was very roll-y and I don’t think any of us got much sleep. I know I didn’t. So we set off early, half-awake and not really ready for the craziness before us.

The wind was blowing at least twenty and we were strictly motoring as we were going right in the face of it. While Lawson was dealing with conditions on deck I was down below trying to make T Mac ‘n cheese. (Note to self: never attempt stove at 20 knots.) The Mac n cheese never got made. Things got too crazy and T ended up getting sick even though we all had our dosage of Dramamine.

I finally was sleeping – sort of – next to T when the engine started making a really bad noise then died. Not good. We were about five miles from the marina. Lawson had to get the sails up so we didn’t crash into rocks. He got a fishing boat on the radio and they radioed into the marina for help. It seemed like forever but finally the boat from the marina arrived and pulled us into the dock. All in all, a pretty stressful day. And once ashore I still had to make T some Mac n cheese.

That’s all I have energy for now…more later. Good news is we are all safe and sound at this marina because the weather is supposed to continue to be bad ( Arrg!) so we will probably be here for a week.
